A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that children need to find a reason to have a goal of being educated. Coming from a small town and having such a global perspective, I love helping children see their place in this vast world and that they are an important global citizen. I try to show them through energetic discovery, that all this "boring stuff" leads to much more interesting and and fun stuff. Children need to know that they are important assets to us all and that they are more than capable of over acheiving whatever they set out to do.
Studying French and Russian Studies at Stetson allowed me gain more than a grasp on those two languages, but insight to the cultures, an appreciation for and ability to interpret literature and poetry, a deeper understanding of history, geography, and politics as well as a desire to share all of this with others.

When I begin tutoring a new student, my first objective is for us to get to know each other. The student will not be able to receive very much from me until he/she is comfortable with me. Once they feel that I care, they open up and the learning really begins! When I really get a feel for the personality and whatever particular challenges are unique for this person in this class, I am able to determine the best way to communicate the subject and improve the skills. I love teaching and working with children. I believe for my experience that all kids can learn but in their own ways and time.
