Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I have over 40 years experience working with children and adolescents with dyslexia. I have a thriving private practice in Asheville and work closely with children and families as well as teaching through the Orton-Gillingham Approach. As a professional educator, parent, speaker, published author, adjunct professor, and a parent, I am passionate about helping the dyslexic learning reach their potential!

I use multi-sensory programs like Project Read, The Wilson Program and mostly Orton-Gillingham. I have training from the basic level through to the advanced level in Orton and many years of wonderful experience!

I have wanted to help others learn for as long as I can remember; even as early as the fourth grade I was helping my classmates with assignments. I have always loved learning and helping others to learn. I earned a BS in Psychology in college so I would have a better understanding of how the mind works and learns. I never turned a person down; if I did not know much about a subject I would research it. I even took a course that would teach me how to assist individuals with essays and research papers. I taught high school science for four years before returning to further my education and after getting a Master's in Counseling became a school counselor in public school. I worked for 11 years teaching a mental health curriculum that is developmental and research based in grades one through five.
