Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. After graduation from App. State, I traveled across much of the US as a professional musician. I have teaching experience with both adults and childeren in both classical music and church music. I also have experience in recording as a producer and arranger. I enjoy teaching both children and adults, from beginners on up to future music majors. Each student is unique, so I try to adapt my instruction to take advantage of each students strenghts. I understand that any child can run into problems with schoolwork. I try to find out why the child is having a problem before trying to help them. Did he miss something and fall behind? Is she simply bored with the subject? The approach I take with the child depends on the answers to these questions. I feel it is important for the learner to understand that there is a reason for making the effort to learn each subject.
