A Little Bit About Me...

While earning my MA in English at California State University, Fresno, I spent two exciting years teaching beginning college writing. I chose to teach the class for students who did not pass the entrance exam for Fresno State because I enjoyed working with the diverse, and primarily ESL, students who populated these classes. I also spent three years tutoring many terrific students there in reading and essay writing. Currently, I volunteer to tutor adults, and attend professional development meetings in tutoring, through the Tulare County Library’s “Read to Succeed” program.
My style of tutoring is skills-focused, with a goal of student independence. I believe education is the most valuable gift we can pass on to our most valuable resources, which is the youth. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Chemisty with a minor in statistics. As an undergraduate, I tutored middle-schoolers in science and math as a volunteer at a local school. I was recently a substitute teacher, teaching all ages and in areas such as the biological sciences, algebra, calculus and psychology. I currently tutor a college student in mathemtics.
