I have five years' experience in learning Latin. I took Latin all through High School and while at University. I love sharing my knowledge with others, whether it's in a group or one-on-one. I make sure that my pupils can easily comprehend what is going on during the lesson. Questions are a good indicator that active comprehension is taking place, and I am there to make sure that any and all questions that are to be had will be answered. I'm not one to "spoon-feed" per se, but if specialized attention is needed on a specific topic or subject, I am there to help with any and all questions that may arise during the process. Teaching and working with young individuals over the course of my education has been particularly memorable. I have taught and tutored a wide array of students from Ivy league bound seniors to 4 year olds with autism. I am very open-minded and love helping others to achieve their goals and strive for excellence. As a graduate of the University of Virginia, I was very dedicated to learning as much as possible. I double majored in Government and Sociology, yet was able to take numerous courses in other areas as well. After earning my undergraduate degree, I decided to pursue graduate school immediately. I have been teaching Latin actively without interruption since 1978. I have been teaching in public high school for 19 years and have continued to tutor throughout this time. I have continued to produce students who consistently score 700+ on SAT II in Latin.My students are now studying Latin at all the major colleges in this state. I have repeatedly worked with students of college age and even adult learners. I am expert in the simple,but effective explanation of Latin grammar and the creation of learning experiences that create learning. I have also used computer tech to supplement more traditional teaching method.
