As a graduate of a Liberal Arts university in Virginia, I excelled in English, History, Law, and Foreign Languages. Writing thoroughly-researched and articulate essays were my speciality. For three years I tutored Spanish to struggling university students, and a further year was spent teaching English as a foreign language to Taiwanese students of all ages. Teaching and tutoring are my passion. To see the light in student's eyes when they gain new understanding and/or work through a problem. I believe the best way to accomplish that is to not only teach them the information, but more importantly to show them how to do it themselves, so that learning becomes a lifetime occupation. As a retired Army Officer, I spent my military career coaching, teaching, and mentoring young adults. My profession was military logistics; my passion is education and teaching. In 2008 I graduated from the University of Oregon with a BA in Chinese and a minor in Asian Studies.
