A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of a Liberal Arts university in Virginia, I excelled in English, History, Law, and Foreign Languages. Writing thoroughly-researched and articulate essays were my speciality. For three years I tutored Spanish to struggling university students, and a further year was spent teaching English as a foreign language to Taiwanese students of all ages.
Teaching and tutoring are my passion. To see the light in student's eyes when they gain new understanding and/or work through a problem. I believe the best way to accomplish that is to not only teach them the information, but more importantly to show them how to do it themselves, so that learning becomes a lifetime occupation. I was born in a french country where I studied in French for over 18 years, and I went to France to study for 1 year, and later I moved to the United States. My writing and speaking in both French and English are superior. I taught mathematics in my native country for 5 years, and I taught french at Spokane community college for the academic year of 2006-2007. I can teach mathematics and french.

I firmly believe that a good education must be adaptable, flexible, and incorporate a variety of learning styles if it is to be of maximum benefit to students. When teaching, I speak with my students about the kinds of activities they feel assist them most in retaining information as well as observing their learning style independently. I do my best to include activities that incorporate visual, kinesthetic, and oral learners. School isn’t always fun and interesting; it is called “work” for a reason.
