Teaching and tutoring are my passion. To see the light in student's eyes when they gain new understanding and/or work through a problem. I believe the best way to accomplish that is to not only teach them the information, but more importantly to show them how to do it themselves, so that learning becomes a lifetime occupation. Through patience and frequent encouragement, I believe everyone can learn. As a graduate of a Liberal Arts university in Virginia, I excelled in English, History, Law, and Foreign Languages. Writing thoroughly-researched and articulate essays were my speciality. For three years I tutored Spanish to struggling university students, and a further year was spent teaching English as a foreign language to Taiwanese students of all ages.

I was born in a french country where I studied in French for over 18 years, and I went to France to study for 1 year, and later I moved to the United States. My writing and speaking in both French and English are superior. I taught mathematics in my native country for 5 years, and I taught french at Spokane community college for the academic year of 2006-2007. I can teach mathematics and french. As a retired Army Officer, I spent my military career coaching, teaching, and mentoring young adults. My profession was military logistics; my passion is education and teaching. I earned a bachelor's degree in Foreign Language and Literature (focus: French and German) and a master's degree in Adult Education. Both enhanced my professional skills and afforded me the opportunity to teach world wide and at the Army Logistics Management College in Fort Lee, VA. In 2007 I gained employment with the Eugene, OR school district as a Classified Substitute where I fulfilled a variety of positions; mostly working with IEP students or assisting in Learning Resource Centers. In 2008 I graduated from the University of Oregon with a BA in Chinese and a minor in Asian Studies. In July of 2009 I had the opportunity to travel to Indonesia as an ESL teacher through English First. I lived and worked in Indonesia for one year teaching English grammar, writing style, reading, speech, listening, and business culture to students ranging in age from 3 years old to business professionals.
