My teaching style is best described as adaptive. We all learn differently, some more so by doing, others by seeing or listening, and others by thinking it through. Learning is a combination of processes, emphasizing what works best. For me, the approach is to use what works best for the student to learn what needs to be learned, with the underlying objective of the student learning how to learn - meaning a self-awareness of what works best for him or her. The tough learning is slugging it through the stuff that we just don’t seem to get or seems to have no value in our future lives. That said, I find that applying the “token economy” approach, in getting the children to focus on the task, is very effective.
