If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.
All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.

Exciting and effective tutoring available!

I have always had the ability to effectively teach my family, peers, and other classmates. However, I recently decided to get into the field of tutoring. My very first session, I fell in love with it. I am understanding that each student has different needs, different strengths and weaknesses. As a Merchant Marine and Chief Steward I have taught, tutored, or mentor kids of all ages and backgrounds. My passion when teaching is to try and breakdown the subject to it's most basic level. A level that the person being taught can understand. Having work with kids from different ethnic and educational backgrounds I find this to be very affective and productive. One of the key elements of tutoring is communication between the tutor and student. Encouraging discussion instead of lecturing of the subject is important. Facilitating good rapport allows me to understand a student’s strengths and weaknesses and allows focus on the weak areas. For example, does the student primarily utilize rote memorization or is he/she capable of a higher level of critical thinking? Someone who is more familiar with memorization as a way of learning can be taught to expand their understanding of the subject if the right questions are asked to them. Someone that demonstrates higher critical thinking skills might do better with repetitive exercises on the subject which encourages focus and application.
