A Little Bit About Me...

I am a senior undergraduate student enrolled at Georgia Tech. My major is nuclear and radiological engineering, but i have experience in the fields of mechanical and civil engineering. I am most experienced in the subjects of mathematics, radiation physics, and electromagnetics including: algebra (I and II), trigonometry, differential equations, calculus 1 and 3, reactor physics, radiation protection/particle physics, thermodynamics, classical mechanics. I also have basic college level experience in the fields of chemistry and biology.
I encourage students to question problem solving methods in order to understand the fundamentals. After an explanation of the material I often follow up with several example problems to help students test their mastery of the subject. I do not emphasize memorizing equations, because students do not learn about the physical phenomena by memorization. ... read more

All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.

Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.

More About This Tutor...

Tutoring is a profession which I have enjoyed for over nine years, often while teaching in the classroom or online, concurrently. I was able to teach multi-subjects to college students because I excelled in all subjects myself, receiving numerous scholarship awards and honors. I chose after school tutoring as my extra duty assignment while teaching middle school and high school. I enjoy tutoring students because I experience the moment of “Ah ha, now I get it!” with them.
I am eclectic in my approaches towards teaching, ranging from Montessori and Classroom Without Walls, to Behaviorist and Cognitive approaches. I use what is observable, measurable, and works. I am always prepared to pull a rabbit out of my hat, and I always prepare additional alternative lesson plans in case an approach does not seem doable. I begin tutor sessions with interviews to assess goals. The ultimate goa ... read more

I make an effort to create a comfortable environment where students are able to approach me for all their questions as we work to improve the skills they must have for a future full of hope and opportunity.
I was a foster parent for fourteen years in which I spent numerous hours with each child weekly working with them to improve their academic skills. For the past two years I have been substitute teaching in the Romoland School District. I graduated from college seven years ago and after graduating I started the procedure of getting my teaching credential but never completed the process. I did, however, observe two different children in two different classrooms. I, also, worked at In-N-Out Burger for six years during which time I helped different employees learn different aspects of the job. I have three children ranging in ages 5 1/2 through 11 months who I teach every day.
I enjoy teaching children and seeing their faces when something clicks in their head. This year my oldest son has started kindergarten and it has been an amazing experience seeing how much he has learned this past year. I substitute teach two days a week and I really strive to use different ways to teach the children because I know that not every child ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Find out what level the student is at, what their interest are, what the like about learning or hate about learning and go from their. As each person is different and each person learns in their own way. Learning is not hard, finding out how to learn is.
As a Merchant Marine and Chief Steward I have taught, tutored, or mentor kids of all ages and backgrounds. My passion when teaching is to try and breakdown the subject to it's most basic level. A level that the person being taught can understand. Having work with kids from different ethnic and educational backgrounds I find this to be very affective and productive. Also, not having been a great student in high school with dyslexia, I have been able to over come these short comings and graduate from collage with honors.

Throughout my schooling career, I have always found myself drawn to helping students understand concepts quickly and efficiently. My BA degree in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside (UCR) has enabled me to do just that by communicating concepts from different subjects to different types of students. I have tutored all levels of mathematics ranging from elementary to high school level.
My teaching philosophy leans towards engaging students in the process of understand the topic at hand. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a passion for teaching and hope to continue teaching in academic sciences. I enjoy working with children and young adults sharing my passion for learning. I believe the best way to learn is through trial and error and I encourage my students to attempt to solve problems before we attempt to find the answer. I believe that students learn best in an encouraging environment and providing this for them will give them the best chance at success. As a student who is constantly continuing my education I can relate to the issues my students have in grasping and conquering issues. I also believe that practice is the best way to master material and encourage my students to practice, practice and practice.
