A Little Bit About Me...

I like to accommodate to a child's personality and likes to help them to learn through distinct processes. When given the opportunity in the correct manner, children can learn most of what is put in front of them. By using example catered specifically to certain children, they are able to connect to the tutor as well as the subject. As a tutor, I am kind, laid-back and patient. Younger kids seem to gravitate to me, while the older kids relate to me.
Coming from a family with no prior college education, I made it a point to not only graduate from a four-year university but to work as hard as I could to be the best at what I do. I accomplished what I have set out to do by graduating with a degree at both institutes I attended with a GPA above 3.0. More About This Tutor...

My passion is teaching mathematics. After a single year of retirement I missed teaching so much that I now either teach or tutor at three locations. In the classroom I have a casual, informal style that is more like a conversation with my students than a formal lecture. After presenting a problem for students to analyze and solve, my most common tactic is to ask a series of scaffolded (rather than Socratic) questions-designed to lead students to their own method to resolve the situation. I believe that all students can learn mathematics, and that determining how each student best does it is my prime objective.
