I am a naturally curious person who has always loved words, and spends a good deal of time reading and writing. Throughout my educational career, I have gained experience in reading, analyzing, and writing about various literary works; I enjoy debating the meaning of any written work, and writing about nearly any subject. I graduated from the University of Maine "with distinction" and as a memeber of the Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society. My teaching experience began with the Upward Bound Program where I taught Language Arts and provided in-home tutoring in a diversity of subjects. I then worked for the Penobscot Job Corps Program, a program designed to provide vocational training to “culturally and economically disadvantaged youth." During my 23 years there I held a variety of direct service and administrative positions including teaching the following classes: World of Work, Intergroup Relations, Exit Readiness, Leadership I and II, and workshops of job preparedness. Working with people, particularly children, has always been a passion of mine. Through the psychology program at Husson College I was able to gain a better understanding of human interaction, interpersonal relationships, as well as to obtain further insight on the foundation of the cognitive wiring in which we all possess. I also have a 6 year old daughter, who I have found to be the key to my drive in watching all children achieve academic success. I think the process starts with parents but branches out into the world of educators, and truly is a battle that can be won as long as there is always a core group of people committed to each child's success in the classroom.
