I have over 5000 hours (nearly 10 years) of tutoring experience, including the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT and other selected subjects. Not all people learn in the same manner. It's important to recognize clues that identify preferred learning styles and incorporate lesson plans accordingly. I believe in breaking things into its simplest form using analogies to help with learning and retention. I believe it is not only important to teach the curriculum, but to also relate the benefits of learning into (age appropriate) real-life lessons. For example, it is important for a high school student to know what to expect on their first job and how to make the transition from high school to college.
