I have been employed by Verizon Telecommunications for 20 years. Nearly all of my career has been in management with the last 12 floating between various Manager positions (Call Center Mgr, Operations Mgr, Facilitation Mgr, etc.). I have been a teacher/professor and Dean of a University for 15 years. I got my BS in Life Sciences and one year of MS in Molecular Genetics. I continued on to get my MBA. I have taught English, Math, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Business courses and other science courses.
There are so many different teaching styles and learning styles. As a tutor the teaching style is going to be dependent on the student's learning style. Not everyone can teach. After 33 years of trial law, I decided to teach full time. I have taught various classes off and on since 1972. I have tutored students for the last two years, including 15 middle school english and math students this last year in Hernando County. I also helped these students with science, geography, and social sciences. I now live in Tampa.
All children can learn if properly motivated. I use a modified socratic method of teaching, engaging the child in a dialogue about the subject matter. We explore together using books and the internet to find answers. All of my students improved in their school work in a dramatic fashion. Some saw their grades jump as much as 60%.
