Practice-Theory-Practice. I try to stay very focused on doing examples and practice problems. Some theory is necessary for a deep understanding, but it has to come at the right time. The student first needs some practice or at least an attempt to appreciate the process involved in solving a problem. Then I try and bring to light any issues and cover some theory. Then we do more practice. I helped many students who had previously given up hope to pass the CLAST exam and I taught the math portion of an SAT prep course through FGCU's CAA.
I tutored LD students through Adaptive Services at FGCU
I taught labs at FGCU for intermediate and college algebra, statistics and business calculus.
I taught AP Calculus and AP Statistics at a private school.
I taught Pre-calc and Algebra II through Lee County School District.

My major complaint with the current pedagogy of STEM fields is there focus on teaching students to be able to produce answers so a slew of canned and frankly uninteresting problem sets. There is so much interesting literature, philosophy, and history in the fields of science and physics that it makes very little sense to muddle with these less helpful and dull techniques and problems. Physics and math education has become so perforated with cliche that shows like Cosmos and the elegant universe can become hits by just regurgitating the same buzz-theories (Schrodinger's cat, Black holes, the multiverse etc.) in the same, cloddish language (space-time is 'warped' and twisted, quantum 'weirdness', etc). This lack of original language and analogy is not a semantical issue; it's suggestive of the philistine cleaving of the sciences from the arts and it's very disturbing -- these truly awesome

My teaching style is mostly relaxed, like a causal conversation. I have found people to be much more responsive to learning in this kind of atmosphere. I like to find out what my clients understanding level is, work with them towards strengthening that understanding, and use a verity of learning approaches to help them become self-sufficient in the area. "In the second grade my mom sent me to tutor. She was an older women and had once been a prominent local educator. She would sit me at her dining room table and have me do my homework while she watched soap operas in the next room. My experience was stagnant. I hated going to her house and I hated school work. In elementary and middle school, I was a C and D kind of student."
"In the eighth grade we moved to a new city and I got a new tutor. It was at an after school program. There was one paid professional and two high school studen

I like to interact with the student I am tutoring. I want to be near that student so they can I can clearly explain what they need to learn, and make sure they can hear and understand it. After I explain everything about the subject area, I provide practice excercises for the student so that I am sure they understand it all. When I tutor, my goal is for that student to excel in that area they need help in. I am well organized person and always prepared. I am a first year student at Stetson University. I skipped fifth grade, which is the reason I graduated early. I completed all four years of high school with A's, and only about 2-3 B's. My professional subject area is Mathematics. I took Advanced Placement Calculus 1 in my senior year, receiving a "Most Outstanding" award. I also have experience in areas such as Reading, Writing, English, and also projects. My freshman and sophomore year

I use age and level appropriate methods to help each student best understand the materials being studied. I evaluate each individuals natural learning style; looker, listener, or mover, and use this to present materials in an understandable format that gives the student the best chance of success. As a teacher, tutor, and parent, I have enjoyed years of experience finding creative teaching methods to help students understand difficult concepts where standard classroom methods failed. I truly enjoy helping students achieve their academic goals and feel good about their abilities to succeed.

I have always seen math in a different way then those around me and have always been able to help others see the problems in a different light to better understand it. I take pride in my ability to help others understand even when they believe it will be hopeless All through school I had an advanced understanding of math and i enjoyed helping others better understand it, for the past 5 years i have been offering tutoring to those in need. I have great understanding in everything up to and including statistics, algebra II, and some calculus.

My teaching experience has been both formal and informal. I’ve been a teaching assistant to college undergraduates, an instructor in management studies and also an instructor for dog obedience classes (you’re really teaching the owner, not the dog).
My informal experience has been with my kids, helping them with homework and as a scout den leader and a coach for baseball and softball, and now with my grandkids. In my professional life, I brought new products and services to market which involved educating and orienting individuals and groups through demonstrating and teaching opportunities. My teaching style is best described as adaptive. We all learn differently, some more so by doing, others by seeing or listening, and others by thinking it through. Learning is a combination of processes, emphasizing what works best.
For me, the approach is to use what works best for the st

I am a person who very much enjoys helping people understand subjects that are scary and difficult for them. Presently, I am teaching linear algebra to a dyslexic woman. She's taken the class five times and this time she is passing! In the past, I have tutored physics, algebra, calculus, finite math, statistics, elementary school math, and freshman, bio- and organic chemistry. I have taught a 4 1/2 and 3 1/2 yr old to read, taught the 3 1/2 yr. old additon and subtraction, and a fourth grader algebra. Also, I have helped students to organize and write papers using proper grammar. In college, I tutored one-on-one and in small groups. I enjoy teaching because I like the "ah ha!" or "eureka!" that people have when they discover and learn. I enjoy seeing them develop confidence in themselves. My goal is to teach in a way that the student can grasp and I realize that different people lea

I have a BA and MA in Communications, I was an adjunct professor in Communications as well as a substitute teacher in a high school.
I will be starting the Teacher Immersion program at FGCU in the Summer. I am looking forward to teaching High School English and Speech, while doing Adjuncting at a local college.
I have a love for teaching and the look on a students face when they learn something is the most pleasing to me. Everytime I see a student's eyes light up after learning something new or interesting to them it makes me feel like I have done something great.
I am a very patient person and love helping students achieve academic success. When a student says to me that they need a little extra help with something it means that they want to learn and when a student wants to learn I am all for it.
I want students to reach their highest potential and I will do what ever it

I alwasys like math and science, that why I choose to be an Engineer. I always convince my kids that math is part of everyday activity, everyday life. I love helping my friends in math because that is my passion. I have earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering that qualify to be the tutor that you need. Moreover, I always tried the unfortunate haitian kids whom parents cannot afford to help. With basic algebra, calculus one, calculus two, calculus three, differencial equation along with vector analysis and other advanced math, I am confident that I can help out.

I cannot say that I am set in any teaching style. I am green and haven’t exactly got a teaching style. I know through years of schooling and interacting with peers people learn differently and do better or worse depending on the teacher they have and that teachers style. I believe teaching methods in a tutorial environment need to be adaptive to the student. You’ll need to communicate with the student and feel him/her out and see how he/she learns best. I am patient and confident in my ability to be able to help others learn. My sister had a learning disability and I enjoyed helping her get through school as we grew up. I think it is essential that a student has confidence in himself/herself and believes they can do it. While I attended Auburn University and studied civil engineering I found myself enjoying group projects and helping other students get through the difficult curriculum. I
