Elena S. - Rotonda West, FL 33947 (11.3 mi) - Algebra II Tutor - $40.00/hr.
I am a professional teacher. I have 15 years of experience teaching. I have taught Math and Computer Science in college. Also I have taught in both public and private school systems. I have experience private tutoring for students in school, college and also university.
I do understand that all students learn at different degrees but they all can learn better. So I am always teaching my students with considering their individual characteristics. I enjoy teaching because I very often hear from my students that they really start to understand Math or Computer Science better only when I take them to learn.
Working one-on-one with a student is a great opportunity to really focus on the individual characteristics and academic needs of the student and helping them to be more successful in learning.

Don A. - Rotonda West, FL 33947 (11.3 mi) - Algebra II Tutor - $47.50/hr.
One on one or group. Lessons taught, homework assigned, then follow up of homework assignment. My experience, (both academic and work)has been widely varied, ranging from research and engineering to financial management in a corporate environment, followed by golf course design and landscape management. In addition I used my experience in construction and woodworking to build and market patio furniture. Unfortunately the housing depression of the mid 2000's caused the business to be non profitable and was closed. Since 2005 I have been semi retired and used my construction experience to work at a lumber and hardware store.

Alfred C. - Cape Coral, FL 33990 (14.6 mi) - Algebra II Tutor - $20.00/hr.
My old next door neighbors have two children. One is a boy in elementary and one is a girl in middle school.
I tutored the boy in reading and writing. He was able to read his first book on his own after a few weeks with me.
I had to tutor the girl in math. she was taking algebra and was having a tough time with it. In two weeks of many meetings, she was able to pass her final exam.
No matter what grade I was in, I always enjoyed going down to the ESE room and helping the special kids. I did what ever I could to help.

Philip T. - Fort Myers, FL 33907 (19.2 mi) - Algebra II Tutor - $32.50/hr.
Practice-Theory-Practice. I try to stay very focused on doing examples and practice problems. Some theory is necessary for a deep understanding, but it has to come at the right time. The student first needs some practice or at least an attempt to appreciate the process involved in solving a problem. Then I try and bring to light any issues and cover some theory. Then we do more practice. I helped many students who had previously given up hope to pass the CLAST exam and I taught the math portion of an SAT prep course through FGCU's CAA.
I tutored LD students through Adaptive Services at FGCU
I taught labs at FGCU for intermediate and college algebra, statistics and business calculus.
I taught AP Calculus and AP Statistics at a private school.
I taught Pre-calc and Algebra II through Lee County School District.

My major complaint with the current pedagogy of STEM fields is there focus on teaching students to be able to produce answers so a slew of canned and frankly uninteresting problem sets. There is so much interesting literature, philosophy, and history in the fields of science and physics that it makes very little sense to muddle with these less helpful and dull techniques and problems. Physics and math education has become so perforated with cliche that shows like Cosmos and the elegant universe can become hits by just regurgitating the same buzz-theories (Schrodinger's cat, Black holes, the multiverse etc.) in the same, cloddish language (space-time is 'warped' and twisted, quantum 'weirdness', etc). This lack of original language and analogy is not a semantical issue; it's suggestive of the philistine cleaving of the sciences from the arts and it's very disturbing -- these truly awesome

Wamweni S. - Lehigh Acres, FL 33936 (30.7 mi) - Algebra II Tutor - $20.00/hr.
I am a first year student at Stetson University. I skipped fifth grade, which is the reason I graduated early. I completed all four years of high school with A's, and only about 2-3 B's. My professional subject area is Mathematics. I took Advanced Placement Calculus 1 in my senior year, receiving a "Most Outstanding" award. I also have experience in areas such as Reading, Writing, English, and also projects. My freshman and sophomore year, I won first place in my school science fair, and my sophomore year also won in the district science fair. My high school had an AVID(Advance Via Individual Determination) program in which I helped as a tutor during school hours and also after school. If one needs help with science fair projects, research projects, presentations, etc, I am available. I have learned a lot of techniques in those areas in order for the result to be exceptional and eye catc

Edward O. - Bonita Springs, FL 34135 (31 mi) - Algebra II Tutor - $32.50/hr.
I don't know what separates Algebra I from II, from III. All I know is that I'm a proficient, knowledgeable teacher. With me, you'll learn. To teach, one needs three skills: the ability to relate to a student, the skills necessary to convey leaning, and subject knowledge. I'm proficient in these skills. I have a degree in chemistry with a minor in math. Taught all the maths in night school to students seeking associate degrees. And most importantly, I use math all the time in my business as a wealth manager having designed screens and a rating system all supported by algebra. Any

maria r. - Arcadia, FL 34266 (35.5 mi) - Algebra II Tutor - $25.00/hr.
I am currently enrolled in Desoto High School in arcadia florida. I love math and still have time for my CNA training. I am a senior this year. I am currently in a class where i tutor ninth and tenth graders in any subject but i prefer math. Call me a math wizard if you would. I hope to become a part time math tutor someday and a certified nursing assistant and more through life. I can be strict but I do show empathy and try to put myself in other's situation. I don't judge I believe every child learns in thier own way but with time and patience it can be done. I do push sometimes to see results but in the end the happy ending is worth it. I guarentee to show them a few strategies that are unique and will stick to them forever. I do require parents to cooperate when possible. thank you

Edward C. - La Belle, FL 33935 (36.4 mi) - Algebra II Tutor - $35.00/hr.
I have seen a student who came to me in the last two weeks of the school year with a grade of D in Algebra II raise his grade by getting a B+ on the final exam after intensive tutoring. Lead the student to find the right answer himself or herself if possible. I have done private tutoring of high school students in math from pre-algebra to calculus and in other subjects. I have also home schooled adopted daughters from lower grades to high school level, including teaching English as a second language. In graduate school I was a teaching assistant in an electric machinery laboratory for non-electrical engineering majors. My own experience with standardized tests includes having taken the ACT in 1971 with scores ranging from 22 (76th percentile) in English to 31 (97th percentile) in math with a composite of 27 (93rd percentile) and having passed the GRE in 1975.

Hi, my name is Brittany G. I am a graduate of Southeastern University where I earned a B.S. in General Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Western Governor's University where I earned a Master's in teaching Science. I have been teaching for Sarasota County since 2007. I've taught a variety of different subjects for all grade levels from basic middle school math and science to Honor's Anatomy and Physiology, Algebra, Informal Geometry, Physical Science, and have recently been tutoring for college level algebra and trigonometry, probability and statistics, chemistry and biology. It is my belief in order to effectively teach a variety of students the information needs to be presented and taught in a variety of ways. It is my goal as a teacher and tutor to discover how you learn best and help you gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
