I consider myself as having a good way of presenting the science behind biodiesel to the other employees who do not have a scientific background. As such, I often have to create spreadsheets and conduct training sessions to explain the mathematics behind the process in layman’s terms. I have tutored students in chemistry, algebra, Latin and geometry. I tutored for underprivileged children in NYC for a few months in mathematics, and in college I tutored chemistry in my sorority and for other students upon request. Finally I teach the core concept, connecting it to other concepts already understood by the student. There is usually more than one way to teach a concept. I take into account the learning style of the student. Written or diagrammatic methods might be more effective than verbal explanations. Pnemonics can be useful, but only if the underlying concepts are first taught.
