I have worked as an English, Math, and Science tutor at both the undergraduate and graduate level for the past 7 years. Within that time, I have tutored countless students that have shown noticeable improvement in their test scores and their understanding of class material. As an undergraduate at Victor Valley College, I was part of the Model United Nations program, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and the Writing Center. I can teach children of all ages. I believe it is easiest to build rapport with the student before teaching them. If there is a good relationship between the student and teacher then it is easier to teach and learn. I use different styles of teaching that address all types of learners. I will incorporate visual aids, music, hand movements and other techniques to enhance the students retention of information. I have patience and like to use positive feedback to motivate my students.

I enjoy seeing children discover the world around them in their own ways. Therefore, I teach the importance of working things out until you understand it for yourself. Children will meet and often surpass any goal that is given to them if you show that you believe in them. I use a hands-on approach, as much as possible, with a problem-solving emphasis. A Little Bit About Me...

Education has always been very important to me. My life has been dedicated to the learning and teaching of music (particularly guitar). While double majoring with two very different music degrees at CSU San Bernardino I also established my own private lesson schedule where I taught classical, blues, and rock of various modern styles to my students. I find when I teach I learn. I use this to teach others. In teaching music we dissect technique as well as explore the musical intentions of the composer or arranger. When I teach children I stress fun. It is important that they enjoy music. I find out what they want to achieve and take the direction of learning in that path. If they want to learn rock we can do this with the perspective of blues and basic rock and roll. I do stress classical guitar training and harmony, as a base for all music. I do not figure songs out for students. I make them figure the songs out by learning ear training. I have an easygoing style when I teach but I expect the student to do the homework.
