I have worked as an English, Math, and Science tutor at both the undergraduate and graduate level for the past 7 years. A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored high school students at San Gorgonio High School in a variety of subjects for 6 months. In addition, I worked as an independent English tutor in Buenos Aires, Argentina for 6 months. When I was in high school I did two years of tutoring at Franklin Elementary. I'm currently employed at Club Z Tutoring and attend University of Redlands to obtain my teaching credential.
I can teach children of all ages. I believe it is easiest to build rapport with the student before teaching them. If there is a good relationship between the student and teacher then it is easier to teach and learn. I use different styles of teaching that address all types of learners. I will incorporate visual aids, music, hand movements and other techniques to enhance the students retention of information. I have patience and like to use positive feedback to motivate my students.

First, I substituted and then taught part-time, two to four subjects a year: Advanced Math and Drama, 5 years; Biology, 1 year; and Advanced Drama, 3 years. When my son started seventh grade, I began homeschooling. I taught Earth and Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Grammar, Vocabulary, English Composition, British and American Literature, Geography, American and World History, Ethics, Social Studies, Government, Sign Language, and Bible. A Little Bit About Me...

Education has always been very important to me. My life has been dedicated to the learning and teaching of music (particularly guitar). A Little Bit About Me...

I find when I teach I learn. I use this to teach others. In teaching music we dissect technique as well as explore the musical intentions of the composer or arranger. When I teach children I stress fun. It is important that they enjoy music. I find out what they want to achieve and take the direction of learning in that path. If they want to learn rock we can do this with the perspective of blues and basic rock and roll. I do stress classical guitar training and harmony, as a base for all music. I do not figure songs out for students. I make them figure the songs out by learning ear training. I have an easygoing style when I teach but I expect the student to do the homework.
