I graduated from the University of Iowa in 1989. My degree is in Elementary Education with an emphasis in reading. I taught in the same school district for 20 years where I gained experience teaching first, second, third and sixth grade. I am currently employed as the Elementary Student Advisor with the school district that my previous school district recently merged with. Tutoring is one of my favorite jobs. I really enjoy helping students understand that they absolutely can understand a subject, and the one-on-one, focused nature of tutoring fits my personality very well. I am encouraging and very patient, but no pushover: I realize that the best way for a student to remember a concept is to play an active role in figuring it out.
