The majority of my formal teaching experience has come in the past four years during my graduate career, during which I taught 3 semesters of college-level introductory and cellular biology labs. I am passionate about biology and the sciences and am a firm believer in an interdisciplinary approach to learning. I have earned my BA in English Literature, which gave me amazing professional diversity, as well as exemplary writing skills. These skills were indispensable during my postgraduate work in Archaeology. During a five year career as a professional archaeologist I have authored many reports and presented academic papers at conferences. I have a keen awareness of how to introduce new students to complex information because I've had the opportunity to participate in teaching high school students and undergraduates about field archaeology and artifact analysis. My teaching style is extremely dependent on the individual student, and what their particular situation calls for. As someone who struggled at the beginning of their academic career myself, I am very sensitive to such situations. I take incredible joy in learning, and I believe that any student can achieve this given the right approach.

I enjoy teaching very much. I think a strength trying to use a student's active content or prior knowledge to connect to material. My attempts are always to make the student feel empowered by the education process. If you can connect to way what they are into, either cartoons, hip-hop, popular culture, with conservative humor, then sometimes you can gain their understanding much quicker.
