My teaching methods are rather basic. I respect the student, and I encourage the student. I have found that reward goes much farther than ridicule or punishment when motivating a student to believe in themselves, and thus excel. I also teach the importance of information. What I mean by that, is that I teach the student why the information they are learning is relevant to the real world, I don't teach to a test. Starting in 1992, I served as an adjunct professor at Johnson & Wales University teaching a 300 level environmental science class, a 100 level general non-major biology class, and also a 100 food sanitation class with a HACCP certification. In 1999, I left and began teaching middle school where I have been since. During my time, I have taught 6-8th grade science, 6-8th grade social studies, 6th and 7th grade math, and 6th through high school credit enginering under the Project Lead the Way program. I have also taught reading skills and work with the Chinese community here in Charleston with English language.
