My teaching style is one that is more interactive than instructional. I continue to be amazed while I observe the thought process and problem solving techniques, of the many different and varying individuals and personalities. I am at my best in one on one situations, where I can troubleshoot and identify learning challenges in their early stages. I believe we retain 30% of what we hear and 50% of what we do. The remainder is acquired through repetition, which is a byproduct of a passion waiting to be discovered.

Having been a member of community groups, we were able to reach out to youth and mentor them on life and their personal and professional short-term and long-term goals. I earned an Associate's Degree at Palm Beach Community College in 2005, and I am a current college student at the University of South Florida, graduating Summer 2010. I have a wealth of knowledge to give back and would love to work with a student challenged in the areas of reading, spelling, or grammer.

More About This Tutor...

I was a music specialist for one semester. It was a great experience that I truly enjoyed. I taught grades K-5. I was responsible for creating my own lesson plans and activities for the 40 minutes of music class. I introduced recorders to the 5th grade. Then I put together a booklet for them to teach themselves how to play more songs. They looked forward to working on this summer project independently. I tutored 5th and a 3rd graders this last year. A fifth grade student of mine was falling behind in her work load and brought home a below average report card during the first quarter of school. After my help her grades climbed to almost the A/B honor roll. Her parents were pleased with her improved grades, attitude, and self concept.
I enjoy meeting new students and learning what their individual needs are to better teach them the concepts they need to know. I individua ... read more

I love to teach. There is nothing more fulfilling than to see a student succeed who was previously having difficulties in a subject. I believe that patience is the key. I believe that you need to also listen to what the student has to say if they have anything to say at all, then observe while they work to see what works and doesn’t. Each student is different and should be taught as such, which is how I tutor. I also like to get to know the student so that they feel comfortable enough to speak freely especially if they do not understand something.
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati majoring in Civil Engineering. While in school, I had two different tutoring jobs.
