My comments on tutoring Saxophone : Beginning / intermediate saxaphone

I am supportive, creative, gracious, understanding, but also clear with expectations and goals. I am well-versed in the most effective and enjoyable strategies for learning and retaining.
I have three years experience teaching in the best language schools in the world, including Berlitz International, CNA Language Schools, Brazil, and TAG IDIOMA, Brazil. I have experience as a private tutor, but also as a classroom teacher and an instructor trainer. I am fully fluent in English, Portuguese, Italian, and Swedish. ALSO... I am musically fluent in many instruments, I teach and undertand music theory, but I also can teach sight-reading and improvisational styles. I am particularly good with beginning students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I was a music specialist for one semester. It was a great experience that I truly enjoyed. I taught grades K-5. I was responsible for creating my own lesson plans and activities for the 40 minutes of music class. I introduced recorders to the 5th grade. Then I put together a booklet for them to teach themselves how to play more songs. They looked forward to working on this summer project independently. I tutored 5th and a 3rd graders this last year. A fifth grade student of mine was falling behind in her work load and brought home a below average report card during the first quarter of school. After my help her grades climbed to almost the A/B honor roll. Her parents were pleased with her improved grades, attitude, and self concept.
I enjoy meeting new students and learning what their individual needs are to better teach them the concepts they need to know. I individua ... read more

I think in order to truly learn students need to be in control of what they are learning and have as many hands on experiences as possible. It is best to teach students how to learn, so that they continue to be life-long learners. I also believe that students need to be given choices in regards to their learning so that they learn how to make responsible decisions. It is up to me as the teacher to help inspire students to want to learn and help them see the rewards of their work. Each student is different, and it is up to the teacher to figure out what that student needs to be a successful learner. I love using learning strategies and hands-on methods to help students understand difficult material.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from the University of Cincinnati majoring in Civil Engineering. While in school, I had two different tutoring jobs. The first job I had was with Mathnasium now known as Lumen Learning Center in West Chester, Ohio. At this job, I taught first grade through Trigonometry. This gave me the experience of working with groups of students in different grade levels and different learning styles. After this, I worked for the University of Cincinnati’s Center of Access and Transition teaching up to Calculus. I taught freshmen who had not been accepted into a program and back to school adults. This gave me the experience of teaching larger groups the same subject, such as a teacher in a class.
I love to teach. There is nothing more fulfilling than to see a student succeed who was previously having difficulties in a subject. I believe that patience is the key. I believe t ... read more

Since earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University, I taught English, Drama and Journalism in Texas and in New Jersey for several years, after which I spent another 10 years tutoring students from kindergarten through high school in all subjects when they were required to be home from school due to illness or other situations. I subsequently went into the corporate world and trained adults in the use of computer software and other technical needs. I also was a training coordinator at Walt Disney World for several years, which included providing Youth Education Seminars in American History and Literature.
