I like students to be comfortable, enjoy their experiences with me as much as possible, and learn not only the material they need to study, but also habits and practices that will help them with future studies.

I have found that tutoring sessions are most effective when they are fun! Many students find it difficult to stay focused, especially after a full school day. For this reason, I prefer to change tasks frequently and use a variety of fun games to switch up the pace of the session. Learning can be frustrating for many students when a particular subject does not come as naturally or easily as other subjects. I believe that teaching is guided by the student. When the student shows that something is working we keep using it, if they don't like something we try something new. Everyone is different. Some people need more hands on, others need more example, and some people want the material to be life relevant so we do more conversation and real life stuff. As a regular classroom teacher, I felt hampered due to class size. I was never satisfied connecting with just a few students. Every student was important to me. I realized that the only way for me to really reach students was by reducing the teacher-student ratio. As a tutor, I found that teaching smaller groups of students or one-on-one was for me. Studies show that people who are used to success are more likely to try again and again when confronted with a challenge. My goal is to build a success-driven environment where the student feels like he/she can do anything.
