My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : In addition to being a voracious reader, I actively write reviews for books. Many of my reviews can be found on Goodreads.com. I believe that if you compare my reviews to others you will find that I am succinct, detailed, and objective. Writing a review directly reflects upon an authors ability and potential longevity. One should write a review with the desire to inform on content and intent. I believe that I do both diplomatically.

I spent thirteen years in college, and participated in many study groups. Every group has a person who leads, I have generally taken that role. I have also chosen professions where working in groups is the norm. I enjoy active problem solving, looking at all potential solutions, and digging for the best. I think these skills have lead me to being an exemplary employee. Officially I have only served as a tutor on a volunteer basis; for the last six years I have primarily dealt with elementary school aged children. However, I believe that I have more than sufficient skills to deal with all students.

When I teach, I try my best to be open minded, and to give choices to the student, rather than follow a closed-box cookie cutter curriculum. I've found it's important to find a personal way of learning for a specific student. Variety is important, because every child learns a little differently. Some kids learn by listening, others by seeing. Some kids learn only when they're making things. Encouragement and recognition when progress is attained by the student is a great incentive.
I'm currently a student in school who has had a wide range of experience in various different subjects, specifically working best with mathematics, science and language arts in the elementary and middle school level. Helping students learn and learn how to grow

My teaching experience is broad across subjects and age levels. Learning and teaching excite me and I like to think that attitude rubs off on my students. After receiving my degree at Northwest College in Kirkland (now University), I worked, enhanced my music skills, married and had children. From 1995-1996 I obtained my TESL certificate at Edmonds Community College. I tutored two middle school students from Korea for one year. Then I taught 9th grade English to 15 international students at Snohomish County Christian School for one year.
