I have had the opportunity to serve students of many ages, academic levels, and backgrounds. Over the past four years I’ve enjoyed teaching in the Petal School District on the high school level. I taught and tutored students within the general education setting, as well as within the special education classroom. Career Preparation, Reading and English are subjects I have experience in mostly. Before entering the public school setting, I often had opportunities to tutor and interact with students from various schools and grade levels.
I actually believe that having the ability to teach is a gift, and that Learning occurs from a variety of experiences and explorations. I generally use a teacher-centered approach to teaching; however, there are other times that I prefer to use a learner-centered approach as to meet the needs of my students and their learning styles. I often use a variety of teaching methods such as: group learning, peer review, role modeling, visual aids/hands-on, and mapping.
