As a Liberal Studies graduate of CSU Stanislaus, I have extensive volunteer experience working with K-6 children. As part of my required 90 hours of classroom observation, I worked one-on-one with students in various Modesto elementary schools. In addition, I have worked as a paid tutor through Smart Kids Tutors, working with children from economically disadvantaged families who needed improvement in math and reading. I also worked with college students at CSU Stanislaus as an English, Spanish, and ESL tutor.
I love teaching students from all ages and backgrounds. My education and tutoring experience has taught me many valuable teaching skills. I have learned that we all learn in different ways, and in order to be an effective tutor, one must be able to employ different styles of teaching to get through to students. It is extremely rewarding to see progress, big or small, in any student. I believe that my compassion, knowledge, and drive to help my students succeed make me a great tutor.
