I attended a state college in New York where I was a dual marjor in Literautrue and Education. It was during these years of college that I gained my most relevant experience leading me to deepen my passion for the craft of educating others. When I graduated, I taught in a public elemnentary school New York for one year. I then moved to North Carolina to further my education career and again, taught 4th grade in a public elementary school. During this school year I was approached by a parent to tutor her two sons from Pakistan, in preparation for the NC state End of Grade exams. Needless to say thier English was a bit weak which is where my background in English/literature became most utilized. I tutored them in their home for 4 hours per week. I spoke with thier teachers and parents to target thier weakest points, then purchased materials suited for their achievment level and targeted area. We then worked through the materials in various ways, conducive to thier learning styles, in order for them to prepare for the test. They were both successfull in passing the exams!
I have enjoyed all of my experiences working, teaching, and tutoring individuals. While I was in college I worked as a preschool teacher. Then into the public school system in New York and North Carolina, both being very different from one another. And finally on to tutoring. All facets of educating others is an amazing feeling and accoplishment for me and for the individuls I am working with. I was born a teacher and am a teacher in all aspects of my life- even out of the classroom. Always encouraging others with patience and positive feedback, just as I do in the classroom or home setting. I am a teacher at heart and cannot imagine doing anything else. I look forward to educating and improving the lives of many other individuals as I continue my tutoring career.
