I have a Bachelor's degree with a major in teaching math to secondary students and a Master's degree in school administration. I have taught math, science and physical education and coached a variety of sports.
I believe that I am an effective teacher of students and have spent fifteen years teaching preservice teachers at the university level. I enjoy teaching math and believe that I have the ability to make math understandable to students who may have struggled with math or who simply want to sharpen their math skills.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked as a para-educator since 1992 for the Yakima School District. My job is to translate and assist ELL students in the 8th grade mathematics and science classroom. I enjoy tutoring after school because some students learn best one on one and that gives me the opportunity to make a difference. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a certificate to teach 5-12, I hope that I get the opportunity to teach and make a difference in the students’ school career by showing them how not to be afraid of the mathematics.
I love mathematics and one of my passions is to teach it. I know that not everybody learns the same ways or has the same abilities for certain subjects and that is why I differentiate my instruction. We all have different views, and I would like to find that gateway into the minds of children so that they can see and understand more. I use different methods for each individual. It depends on each person what they like and want in order to find the motivation in themselves. It is satisfying to see people realize that they can achieve more than they first thought.
I have earned a bachelor of science degree in General Science, which means I have a very good understanding of many topics including: Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Computers, and Arts. I have experience in being a leader of 10-16 people in the military as an officer. I enjoyed teaching people of their oppurtunities in furthering their education. During late nights I tutored friends in Calculus and Biology.
