I love when I can help others!

My teaching style is more hands on because that's how I learned fastest when I was in school.
I am going to school to become a teacher in the grades of kindergarten through 5th, I have been a nanny for several people and have enjoyed it completely! I have always wanted to become a teacher, it is the most rewarding job! The best part of my experience is watching students finally get something I had been working with them on. I began my work, with youth, in 1983 when I worked with incarcerated youth at the Highland Youth Center in upstate NY. I later taught high school social studies at Mount Vernon, HS in Mount Vernon, NY where I also tutored after school. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught all levels of high school English and all types of academic achievement within those levels. I am currently a middle school teacher. I have worked with AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) as well. I have worked with students either one on one or via the whole class to improve reading, writing, and test-taking skills. I am also pursuing a certificate in Social Studies, as I have a degree in Political Science.
I try to make things as fun as possible, and I try to help the student understand by putting the subject in a way that suits their interests.
