Over the past three years, I have had the wonderful opportunity to tutor a wide variety of students on a part-time basis. I enjoy the challenge of transmitting information in a way that is both accessible and edifying. As a Facilitator for Western/Delta Air Lines, I was sent to a Training Mapping class in Los Angeles, Ca. to master writing training materials based on the Fogg Index of the trainees. I have also been a Substitute Teacher in the Fayette County School system from 2003-2008 in various grade levels (kindergarden to High School. A commercial banker by trade, I currently teach two (2) classes on financial literacy skills to legal immigrant refugees from India, Burma, and Cuba. This volunteer work is offered through the Catholic Charities arm of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. I started teaching these classes roughly six (6) months ago on a volunteer basis, and the classes have been very well received thus far. The first class is entitled "Introduction to Banking", and teaches the fundamentals of personal banking (how to open a checking account, how to write a check, etc.). A Little Bit About Me...

In my opinion my teaching would have to be considered unique. Usually I teach math in laymans terms and use analogie that students can relate to. Once the student understands the concepts I can then express the same ideas in the more rigorous mathematical terms. I also teach so that the student becomes active in his or her learning experience. I try to help the student to realize that math is not as difficult as it is made out to be. Over the course of my tutoring career I have employed a strategy of helping the student to understand more of the mechanics of mathematics and depend less on shortcuts that do not foster learning or, even worse, do not work. I would say that I have a great deal of patience and understanding.
