Algebra I is one of my top subjects!

I was not offered very many educational opportunities in my youth, but in 2016 I chose to try my hand at being an autodidact (a self-taught person). Within 3 years I went from not knowing basic arithmetic to mastering calculus 2, became a volunteer teacher, scored a 32 on the ACT, and got accepted into Ohio State University as a physics and astrophysics double major. I'm now a senior getting ready to graduate with my undergraduate degree.
I like to meet students where they're at and adjust my teaching methods based on what their aspirations and needs are.

Intervention Specialist - Tutor Grades K-12

I am currently a senior at Urbana University and will be graduating in may of 2013. Along side of being a full time student of mathematics I also play varsity baseball at the university and have received the scholar athlete award several times in my four years. Being a division 2 athlete has given me the best of both worlds I believe in that play on the field was competitive and forced me to become a leader but also helped in making me accell in the classroom as it is said the student always comes first in student athlete. My tudoring experience has delt mostly with college teammates not majoring in math but who are forced to take a math class to graduate. A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored three students: two middle school students in math, one high school student in AP biology. I also occasionally explain academic subjects to my friends and classmates. Through my years of experience, I've found that it is most effective to make sure the students are really thinking. When they get stuck, I ask them questions to point them in the right direction, but I almost never give them the answer unless a lot of time would be wasted otherwise. I'm also very good at catching mistakes, but instead of pointing them out right away, I usually also ask them leading questions to help them find the mistake on their own.
