When the conventional has not worked!!!

I have worked in schools in Kentucky and Ohio. I have been a tutor, intervention aide, long term substitute teacher, and regular classroom teacher. I communicate freely with my students, and am always ranked among the most well-liked and effective instructors by my students. My best skill is helping students find what is in it for them to learn and use the material. I currently teach (adjunct) at a career College where I teach English, history, strategies for success, and communications classes.
Student-centered, Co-intentional. I believe that the key to learning is the motivation to want to learn. Once that has been accomplished, just stand back and guide the student to what they want next.

I strive to make lessons fun and relevant to the student's personal experience. I don't believe that people remember information they find irrelevant or of no use to them, so I feel that by tailoring the lesson to the student, I can reach people more effectively. I grew up in Germany where I graduated from a German high school. I tutored in English through out most of my high school years. During my college career I tutored in German. I was raised bilingual in both English and German.
