As a new teacher in Arizona I just finished my first year in teaching in schools around the Yuma area. I was privileged enough to teach many different grades, cultures, and socioeconomic statuses as well as numerous learning levels. I have developed many skills and taken a particular interest in tutoring English and Reading as well as Math and Social Studies. I have gathered much knowledge about all subject areas at the elementary and high school levels. My knowledge, passion, and dedication has helped many students overcome trouble areas and encouraged them to progress farther than they felt they were able to before. I recently moved to Arizona and received my substitute teaching certificate. I am a new college Graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Ag Leadership and Development. My degree helped me understand how individuals learn and process information. It also helped me understand and respect people of different cultures, religions and races. I learned many different teaching mechanisms and strategies to educate individuals. While in high school I was very involved in 4-H and other extracurricular activities. I worked closely with children on leadership and educational projects. I feel that I am more than qualified for this position. I greatly enjoy working with children. I believe in Howard Garner's theory of teaching to the student style of learning. They are as follows: Visual, Auditory, Musical, Kinesthetic, Interpersonal and Intrapersonal. As I work with the student and get to understand their abilities and limitations I develop a style that will work the best for that particular student. I have worked with students of all grade levels from volunteering at the Cocopah Head Start preschool to working with high school students as a substitute teacher. I have an English as a Second Language endorsement and have worked with adults in improving the English level. I excell in creative writing and am currently assisting friends in obtaining their GED.
