I have been in the field of education for approximately 14 years of which the last 8 years have been special education. I have worked with students of all ages, on all skill levels and many with learning disabilities through 8th grade. I was a high school art teacher for two years and I worked in a college library for four years. I am able and willing to work with students of all ages. My emphasis has been the field of language arts; however, I taught middle school math for students with learning disabilities for two years. I strongly believe that education matters. It is important for all students who want to be successful in life. I am also aware that education comes in many different forms. For some it is in the books themselves. For others it is in the interpretation of the work, and for many it is simply in the joy of learning and building self esteem. Throughout my 20+ years of teaching and tutoring students, I have become very aware that all students can learn and be successful if they can find their strengths and a way to use them to their advantage. Once they feel success, it becomes an addiction and they want more and more of it. I feel it is my job to be patient and help them find their strengths.
