I received my BS in Mathematics and my MS in Industrial Mathematics from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. During my time as a graduate student, I was a teacher of College Algebra, Trigonometry, and of Calculus. I also tutored nearly every undergraduate mathematics course offered at NMT, including calculus, vector analysis, linear algebra, differential equations, probability and statistics, etc. I also took many Physics courses and have a very solid fundamental understanding of Newtonian mechanics. Ideally, teaching styles should be individually tailored to the student's needs. The one-on-one environment of tutoring offers an exceptional opportunity to do this! The learning styles of students vary widely; however, I believe all students respond to an approach which includes kindness, respect, persistence, and the acceptance of the student as an individual. I have taught and been certified in four states. Grades 7-9 is the level I prefer, though I have taught at the Junior College level also. History is my major, and having spent much of my youth on the European continent with my father's duty assignments, it is easy to teach the events that have led to the present situations. English and education were my minors, and they have become essential living in an area where more Spanish is spoken than our native tongue.
