Over the past year, I served as an Americorps volunteer in an inner city charter school with an emphasis on character education. I worked one on one with students helping them with math, reading, and science skills. I assisted in classroom teaching of mini lessons too. I also helped with their after-school program, I also created supplemental study guides and multimedia software to help students to improve their study skills. Tutoring has been rewarding, because it has increased my interest in the field of education. Subsequently, I am seeking certification in Biology 7-12th. I am excellent at breaking things down and making them easy to remember. Relating the subject material to something the learner can understand is key. I am very patient and will take the time to learn how to help each student in the most productive way I can. Completing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics in less than four years took dedication and excellent study skills.
