I worked with a variety of ages from k-12. My most recent experience has been with students in elementary school. I worked for a semester teaching children about sustainable practices and the benefits of buying produce from local farms. While I am most comfortable with high school students, I have great communication skills and can work well with all children.

I spent one year as a day to day substitute teacher working all over York County in various special education classrooms. My second year was spent as a long term substitute at an alternative high school for boys where I taught all subjects. My third year I started teaching Specialized Preschool and did this for many years until I retired last year. My students had many exceptionalities. I had typical students visit my classroom every week to read to my students. I did leave Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12 one year to teach in Baltimore, Maryland. I taught kindergarten-first grade to children with Autism and speech issues. I have 3 grown children of my own who I helped in school.
I have a very hands on approach because I worked with small children. I believe children learn by doing. If they are interested, you won't have behavior issues.

I love the art of teaching. I work with the student on an individual level, tailoring my methods to achieve maximum learning comprehension. Usually, I prefer to have the student figure things out for themselves using guided questions and logic. I feel that one of the most effective methods is, rather than lecture the student and provide the answer, I instead provide the basic materials of the problem and encourage them to figure things out progressively. I have experience tutoring both young children and young adults in private and public settings. I spent a school year teaching two students in grades 2 and 5. I currently have two degrees: a B.S. in Environmental Science and a B.A. in Global Studies. I am hard working, patient and loyal. I gave the few children I have cared for and worked with a lot of wiggle room in order to express themselves. I feel like the less regulations and rules on an art assignment the more playful and creative the individual will be. you have to care about what you are doing before anyone else will.
I love children. While attending high school and college I babysat several children from four months old up to 13 years old.
