Experienced high school and middle school math tutor

I have taught high school math for the past 4 years involving Algebra I and Algebra II ( at various levels) and Geometry and Pre-Calculus. I have worked as a tutor for the past 6 years in these subject areas as well. I have also worked with middle school students who were taking basic math or Pre-Algebra courses. In the years prior to high school I struggled with math but I had a few excellent teachers (my mother included) that lifted my confidence and taught me that I can achieve my goals through perseverance, encouragement and mentoring. I realized that math is simply a step-wise pattern of correctly followed operations. I feel that a tutor should focus on command, connection and clarity. A tutor must have excellent command of the subject material if they are to improve a student's understanding.
