While at the University of Tulsa I have tutored in both math and chemistry, so I have experience with those subjects in particular. Though I received a bachelors in Psychology I was also pre-med, so I was required to take several heavy science courses as well. As such I am also proficient in several biological subjects.
Generally I will try to ask questions to see which specific points a student needs assistance with and make sure they understand the material on a fundamental level. I also believe that practice and hands-on experiences teach the most, so there tends to be an emphasis on working through problems step-by-step than lecturing. Ultimately I am flexible, and can change my style and routine to accommodate the students' needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style completely depends on the learner. In a classroom setting, I am fairly relaxed and ensure that students feel confident and able to communicate without fear. My lessons address each of the learning styles so that every student has the opportunity to utilize their strengths when it comes to processing information. In a one-on-one setting, I tend to teach mostly to the style of the individual student. However, I vary the methods of that style to prevent monotony. I still utilize the non-dominant learning styles so students can begin to develop a holistic approach to learning, but if something flat out does not work, I will try a different approach.

A Little Bit About Me...

I started off being an elementary aide/tutor in 1988 in public schools. I loved working with children so I decided to go back to college to become a teacher. I attended several colleges in different cities (where my husband, daughter and I lived at the time). We moved to Amarillo,Tx. in 1994 where I attended Amarillo College to finish my basic hours. I transferred to West Texas A&M University in Canyon,Texas. I graduated in 1998 with a BS in elementary education and a concentration in math- grade levels 1st through 8th. I have taught 1st and 3rd grade and also 8 years of middle school math.

I graduated from Northeastern State University in 2008 with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I have been teaching for a year at a public school. I have also tutored students in math and reading during a college course,and here at my current job as well. During college I took many science classes that were required for the Nursing program (which was my first major). After twelve semesters of college and a wide variety of courses, my college experience has left me with quite the education and still more to come. I am a Senior attending the University of Central Oklahoma pursuing a bachelor in Applied Computer Science. I have taken such a wide variety of courses in the previous six years that I have completed the major requirements for a bachelor degree in General Studies as well.
