Before introducing my teaching style with the student, I first make a detailed observation on where they are at in the subject. I review their stong points and weaknesses. For Intance, If they have pronounciation issues or trouble understanding vocabulary, I will focus my attention to that before moving on to any new or next step. I like to review what was learned last session before starting the new session so it stays fresh in their minds. Patience is most definately a must and knowing that there is a no "one size fits all" approach allows me to be creative in my teaching style for each and every student.
My background includes diverse education and experiences from military training, pharmaceuticals,to fashion, film, and entertainment. I have completed my AA degree in Fashion Design & Merchandising along with producing live shows in Los Angeles for the nightlife. I have also beg ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a California State University, Los Angeles graduate, holding a BA in English, with a specific focus on clasroom teaching. Throughout high school and college, I was driven to assist my peers, using my knowledge to ensure that they understood the subject matter and would succeed in any academic endeavors. As a nanny, I have several years experience teaching small children to read. I am also well versed in theatre arts, dance, and world history.
I believe that an open dialogue is a teacher's most needed resource. Any child needs to feel as though he or she can express concerns or apprehensions without the fear of feeling embarrassed or stupid. I truly believe that there is no such thing as a stupid question. Teaching should, of course, relay necessary information, but it should also foster a student's drive to succeed, as well as the knowledge that any goal can be reached through ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Through out my work with children diagnosed with autism I have learned and implemented B.F. Skinner's Operent Conditioning model. Although punishment is in the model, my specific teaching style only includes reinforcement using encouragement and praise to help your child reach his/her optimal potential. Working with children diagnosed with autism, I have learned patience and the ability to adapt each session as the student goes through their individual learning process. My work has prepared me for all possible challenges with a range of students who fall along the continuum of learning abilities.
My college studies have been in a variety of fields with the most concentration in the arts and social sciences. At the University Center for Developmental Disabilities I have gained one-on-one experience with children with autism and have learned and employed several techniques used i ... read more

I am a very one on one type of person. I want to make sure the child understands on their level of thinking, which might mean using what they use on a daily basis to explain clearer. Depending on the age of the child and what subject that needs to be taught will depend on which way I will attack the situation.
Over the past 4 years, I've worked at the Colton Community services recreatioon depatrment. As an employee I've worked in Drop-In Recreation, in which I provide my assistance in helping the children do homework and tutor them as they needed. fot the past year and a half, we've started a new program called Homework help, which is to focus more on helping the students one on one with homwwork, reading, math, projects, etc. I am currently working on getting my AA in Child Devolpment to continue my drive to become a teacher. I am a huge advocate for the theory of multiple intelligences. I believe every child is capable, its just a matter of figuring out how they process information. Academic success is just one measure of growth, but whole learning is what I consider true success and I believe when the whole child is taught that academic success will invariably follow. I am Queen Patience and Queen enthusiasm. It's almost impossible not to get excited and energized when I'm around and involved. Most importantly, I teach people more than a subject, I teach them how to learn, and that is what a lifetime of success needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

My first two years of college I was a math major. I took classes through Calculus III until I decided to pursue my dance minor as a major. Math and dance have always been my two greatest interests. Math has always been my strongest subject in school, it just made sense to me. My favorite has always been Algebra. In high school I would tutor my friends at the dance studio in Algebra and was paid to tutor a freshman girl at her house after school. In college, I actually tutored a 40-year-old woman who needed help passing her algebra class in order to finish her college degree. I tutored her weekly for at least a year. Still to this day I enjoy helping my students with math at the high school I now teach P.E./Dance full-time.
I have always enjoyed teaching others especially when it came to math. I naturally and enthusiastically interact with people. I believe all people can ... read more

Learning to teach at age sixteen taught allowed me to develop my teaching style into a mature and planned method. I have taught dance classes, summer camps, and tutoring sessions. The diversity of the teaching subjects gave me insight into how students learn various material and how, for an individual group or student, a teaching style must be molded. I am an astute tutor who listens to the needs of her students and can be both patient and encouraging, varying my style in response to the needs of those I am with. Paying such close attention to my students responses I have guided many students on the path to success through the means they deemed for me to work for them.

A Little Bit About Me...

I consider my ability to observe and adapt to situations that may not be considered ordinary as an advantage. Through education, I have developed techniques that enhance my analytical and critical thinking skills. My closest linguistic “friends” in life are How, What, When, Where, Who, and Why. With their help and the help of others, I know I will succeed as a teacher and student. I am a perpetual pupil and will remain so until the end. I also draw upon my experiences as a husband, parent, son, brother, friend, and associate when assessing interactions and conversations with those individuals I come into contact with on a daily basis. We are all here and together for such a short time, and time is an irreplaceable asset. Therefore, it only stands to reason that moments of learning should not be wasted. I consider teaching to be a privilege as well as a serious responsibility, and I will ... read more
