As an undergraduate at MIT, I have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, and have complete master of those taught at the high school level. I have also completed several advanced courses in chemistry, biology, and physics, but am still young enough to remember the techniques I used to learn those subjects when I myself was a high school student. I have prepared many students (privately) for final exams in biology, geometry, and algebra.
I have a knack for creating analogies and mechanisms to help students remember things for exams, as well as strategies and ways of thinking that may be a little different than what was taught in class (but still gets them to the final result). My creativity allows me to come up with different teaching ideas depending on the child's needs. Differentiated instruction has helped me to reach the needs of all learners and positive reinforcement has helped to motivate students to want to do well. I believe that the social aspect of a child's life is just as important as the academics. Once these needs are met, children are more apt to reach their fullest potential.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience as a tutor is somewhat limited, but I was involved as an ESL tutor for a short time during college. I've had more experience training my coworkers or employees to better understand their jobs or to improve their job skills, but I feel that the experience would be relevant to a tutoring job. I have had years of sales and customer service experience, which has consisted of spending a vast amount of time educating people on products and services.
