My comments on tutoring Spanish : I am not fluent in Spanish, however, I have completed Spanish III in high school and have been taking it for 8 years.

My teaching style is flexible because every student learns differently. What I usually start out with is showing examples and having the student ask questions along the way. Then, I allow the student to try some problems as we work through them together.
Although I do not have much experience with regards to tutoring, I often help my fellow peers with their homework and tutor them on the things that they struggle on. I am a strong student, currently #1 in my class, with straight A's with enrollment in Advanced Placement classes. Often times, my fellow peers come to me when their teacher is not accessible and need help regarding their classes. Of course, I'm always willing to help them because I want them to succeed.

My comments on tutoring Spanish : Spanish is my native tongue. I studied at the University of Puerto Rico and earned my B.A. in History, as well as a minor in Philosophy, from the University of Colorado. Dedicated and well mannered students only.

I am a newly grad from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs; I earned my B.A. in History and a minor in philosophy. I maintained a 3.5 GPA and had the honor of being selected to study abroad at the University of Puerto Rico while writing my senior thesis on the socioeconomic conflicts of Puerto Rico's independence movement. I will be pursuing my Master's degree next fall, continuing the path of academia. I relate well to students because I am a lifelong student. Also I am a husband and a proud parent of three children. I am experienced at running a healthy household where academics reign supreme; dictatorship is often avoided under the guide of homework being an opportunity to show off. Kids find that fun. I am also aware of the challenges of parenting because I too am a parent.
There is not progress without dedication; there is no dedication without interest. I spark inte ... read more

Being bilingual can open up many job opportunities.

I have experience with Spanish because my mom is from Juarez Mexico. She spoke Spanish to me ever since I was a baby. I speak in Spanish with my moms side of the family too. I am Hispanic and originally from El Paso TX. I have also taken a Spanish class in high school. I've never tutored before, but I believe I can definitely teach this language to those willing to learn.
Whatever the student prefers and learns best.

Spanish is one of my top subjects! Lots of experience teaching Spanish--my passion ! I have taken many university classes in grammar and literature. My GPA in this subject is a 3.9.

Master's in Communication and English, advanced minor in Spanish-- 12 years experience in teaching in high school and at college. I have traveled and studied in Madrid and have attended local classes for five years, earning excellent grades in my coursework. I have done a lot of volunteer work in the schools, helping all levels of Spanish teachers. This has been a rewarding, fun experience for me.
I cater to the individual learning style of the student. I have a true passion for teaching and helping others and have had great success with my students.

A lifelong lover of reading, writing, and language in general, I supported myself through college by tutoring other students in Spanish and helping them edit/write their papers. Since then, I have tutored students between grades 6 and 12 in English related subjects, including spelling, vocabulary, and general writing. The past four months, I lived in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, where I spent two days a week tutoring local students in English as a second language, in addition to generally improving my Spanish skills.
My teaching style is extremely fluid. I've found that adapting classes to the unique needs and interests of each individual student is the best way to making a lasting impact on their educational growth.

Knowledge has come from observation and describing it.

The first thing I can say is necessary is to recognize the student can also teach the teacher. I respect the student's intelligence and I also devised techniques that build on acquiring knowledge. So if a child knows how to tell time and can count to 100, he of she is capable of learning how to multiply, From that comes division, and now they are ready for simple algebra. For science, E = mc2 is the building block for astronomy which leads into physics which leads to the speed of light and the compostion of elements within the cores of star and the structure of atoms, creation of molecules, life forms, and Newtons prism and the spectrum ot light to math and the metric system and the old systems of measures on which it is based, to history of the development of writing.

As a graduate of a presigious liberal arts college, I was driven to a belief in life-long learning. As such I have been to graduate school twice, once in business and once in international relations, to gain an understanding of the world in which we live both in terms of economics and finance and through the study of foreign policy and the wider world. I became fluent in Spanish while on assignment in Spain in the early 1990's and keep my skills current by working actively with the Latino community. I am also a scholar of 20th century european and diplomatic history, with concentration on the period between the two world wars. I currently teach Consumer Economics and Business at Pike's Peak Community College, and English as a Second Language through Catholic Charities.

A Little Bit About Me...

During my educational career at College of the Ozarks, also known as “Hard Work U”, I learned the importance of having integrity, work ethic, and good character because it is a unique college in that all students work on campus rather than pay for their tuition. I worked a year in the Foreign Language Lab where I tutored college students and area high school students in Spanish, administered placement tests, and provided assistance for Spanish professors. I earned two bachelor degrees, BA in Spanish and BA in Philosophy and Religion, along with a strong emphasis in German. I was also selected to attend the Focus Leadership Institute in Colorado Springs, where I received training in areas of psychology, sociology, and family studies.

Essential to learning is an environment that allows students to personalize and experiment with new-found knowledge, to enjoy the learning experience and to know that their instructor cares about their progress. Teaching methods are always tailored to student needs, and to meaningful activities for each student’s life and goals; activities engage students' cross-disciplinary and leisure interests, as well as their unique personalities and learning styles. We learn to “survive” in a second language, to make friends and talk about daily activities; and we learn to raise the level (written and oral) to academic and professional needs in both linguistic and social aspects of the culture.

I believe that it is the teacher's job to discover the true learning style of their students and when we do it is like unlocking a treasure chest of gold, so to speak. I enjoy teaching all the subjects in school and I enjoy the challenge of teaching children with learning disabilities and or emotional disabilities. I like to differentiate my instruction so that all students can access the curriculum and I keep track of my performance through regular assessments and using the RTI (Response to Intervention) process. I know how to teach reading and writing effectively studying under Dr. Elaine Cheesman from U.C.C.S.
