A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught English at a private school in Ansan, South Korea for 1 year from March 2009 to February 2010. I taught children from ages 5-14. This was a full time job. I take close consideration of each child’s ability in the language and cater to his or her individual needs. I believe in teaching in an immersion environment so that the child receives the maximum exposure to the target language. Depending on his or her language level, I am able to incorporate the native language of the child in with the lesson to ensure a found understanding of the material being taught.

I have taught a variety of skills and ages, from 1st graders in piano lessons to elderly adult immigrants learning the English language. Prior to earning my degree in education, I was a sign language interpreter for the Deaf. I noticed that Deaf students were not getting an adequate education so I decided to finish my degree so that I would have the ability to have more influence with my student's ability to be successful regardless of their disability. I earned my BA in education with an endorsement in English. I have also had additional education in the area of Diversity and experience in working with special needs students.
