I started out as a Computer Instructor and enjoyed teaching computer classes but something was missing. I saw that my children was not getting the education in the school system that I desired for them. I had wonderful teachers in school and Math was my favorite subject. I am now a degreed, homeschool mom of a 12th grader and a 9th grader - this is our 4th year. I have been a practicing Math Tutor for the past 15 years and tutor in Basic Math through Algebra 2. I love the subject of Algebra. I have been tutoring private students in Algebra 2 for 5 years now. Since I have entered the teaching profession I have worked with children of all elementary levels. This experience has provided me with the tools to work with all types of children from grades K-5. Since I have graduated from IUP I have worked primarily in an urban setting which has afforded me the opportunity to work with children of various backgrounds from affluent to homeless. I have done various forms of tutoring in Reading and Math in preparation for the state administered tests.

I have worked for one school year as a substitute for both Hanover County and Louisa County, I am Currently employed by Hanover County Public Schools as a teaching assistant while continuing my work on my graduate work. I will still be employed by hanover County Schools for the 2009-2010 School year.
I work well as a one on one special education aide because my attention is soley on the activities and education of my students. I am a laid back worker, and extremely patient because I find that if I allow myself to get out of shape, then I am not an effective teacher and aide, and my students will see this. I strive to be a good role model to them all, even when I may be frustrated but I find constructive ways of venting such as listening to music during class quiet times and taking walks with my students during activity breaks and while they are in PE.

A Little Bit About Me...

"Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper". I am a good listener, patient and really proud to help people acquire a knowledge. For me, to teach is to learn twice and so, everyone should teach.
As a French Native, I went to Ghana in 2004 for English language proficiency and I took the opportunity to teach French; it's an exciting experience. In addition to my two bachelors degrees in Finance and Law, I am presently enrolled for a MBA in Finance. My working experiences are great and diversifed.
