My comments on tutoring Spanish : I've taken up to College Spanish 5

I had a 4.1 GPA throughout high school and spent half of my years in honors and AP classes. I am finishing my freshman year of college at Assumption College in Worcester, MA, majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. I volunteer once every week at an elementary school, so I have experience working with children and I enjoy it a lot.

Energetic, passionate tutor ready to teach spanish to anyone

In high school I excelled in spanish to such an extent that I placed out of most of the university spanish classes. Thus, while I have moved on to learning arabic my spanish skills are honed to the extent that I plan to graduate with a spanish major (in addition to my anthropology major) by the time I finish my undergraduate work at Northwestern.
How I teach depend on what the student needs most; I would never coerce anyone into a predefined tutoring rubric, as that may harm their ability to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is as varied as the students I have taught. I feel it is important to relate to the student in order to help them learn best. When there are different learning styles, I do my best to use a variety of teaching techniques in order to cater to the need of the student. I feel that follow up is important, as well as repetition and hands-on practice. I am not a lecturer. I find my best students learn one on one or in a small group where they can be comfortable and ask questions. With children, I have a similar approach as learning, for a child, can be very intimidating, and they have already had enough trouble in school, so patience and kindness is a best practice.

I am a recent graduate from the University of New Hampshire with a major in Spanish. As a part of my degree, I completed a year-long study abroad program in Granada, Spain, where I not only learned a lot about the Spanish language, but also the culture. I have done some private tutoring in the past for both a high school student and a middle school student. I am looking for a new opportunity to tutor some more students to see if I'd like to teach professionally.
I believe that everyone can learn a second language, but it takes a lot of practice and dedication.
