A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a part time math teacher at a junior high school and an elementary school teaching assistant. I am a part time math tutor and am looking for new students. My experience as a math tutor ranges from middle school level to adult. I graduated in high standing with a bachelors and masters degree in engineering. I worked as an engineer for four years and then decided to go into the teaching field. As an engineer, I used the principles that I now teach, helping me to develop a strong foundation as a math educator. I am very patient with students and am able to adapt to their individual needs.
I take the time to get to know the student and to understand how he or she learns. I come prepared to the tutoring session with the concepts I plan on teaching and assignments for the students to work on at home. I take time to make worksheets and to prepare activities that hel ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past 11 years my passion for teaching has increased exponentially. My teaching success has been linked to my adaptability and consideration for diverse learning needs. I look for ways to foster individual growth by exhibiting patience for each student. My teaching style is a gentle balance of creativity, fun, and rigid structure. Each interaction with students will be well thought out and complimentary to that student's needs. This evolving and individualistic approach I take certainly proves successful.
My experience and expertise in education is only surpassed my enthusiasm to meet the new and exciting challenges before me. My educational achievement include a Bachelor's of Science Degree from the State University of New York at Cortland (2003); Master's in Education from University of New England (2005); and School-District Administration Degree from Massachusetts ... read more

Although I have no formal teaching experience, I do have been developing my teaching style for many years while I worked with the developmentally disabled. I learned to identify a teachable moment, which is a time at which the student would be most receptive to learning. As a tutor, I would create those moments and boost confidence by encouraging the student to explore the subject in the way that is most interesting to them. When a child or student asks a question, I will guide them through a thought process so they can come up with the answer themselves.

After graduating from high school as valedictorian, I earned a Zoology BS and a Studio Art BA from SUNY Oswego, successfully completing English composition, speech, visual arts, biology, zoology, chemistry, Spanish, and calculus II courses, and graduated with a 3.76 GPA. Prior, I had taken and earned over a 90% in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and AP calculus. In the last 2 years, I have taught art for levels EC-8th and created a teen development program with daily tutoring.

More About This Tutor...

I enjoy helping students of all ages learn. Education lays the groundwork for every goal that one aspires to in life. I love the English language and words. I feel that it is important for every student to come away with at least a basic understanding of how to write and speak. It will only help later in life. I love science because I have always asked 'how things work'. I am patient and enthusiastic. My energy and love of knowledge is contagious. I do not have a specific way of teaching, I adapt methods based on how the students learn best. I see potential in everyone. I have yet to meet a person that excelled at nothing. I want to make an imprint on my students that they will carry with them their entire lives.

I have held Physics, Earth science, Chemistry and Biology appointments in the years that followed in a variety of School districts throughout the state. I have spent five years tutoring and 17 teaching, including 12 years of summer school. The best thing about teaching and tutoring science is that it easily transfers to all of the other disciplines. My experiences and my insatiable appetite for learning have enabled me to make significant connections across the disciplines and to keep on learning!

A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have over 15 years of teaching experience in all grade levels. I have spent the majority of my teaching career educating young adults in the areas of math, science, reading, social studies and writing.
Through my teaching experience thus far, I have found the method of facilitating rather than dictating to be a highly beneficial style of teaching. I have learned that if students construct their own learning experiences they will not only retain information longer, but they will also become more confident in their abilities. Being devoted to this assertion confims that I have made the right career choice for myself. I love working with young people, and will continue to strive to be a positive influence in their lives.
