I believe that in order to be an outstanding teacher one must exhibit a plethora of skills. For instance one must be able to multi-task and integrate many different occupations into the incredible job of being a teacher. You must be a police officer in that you have to be able to diffuse arguments if they arise (and they will). You must be a doctor, in that you must be able to apply bandages to minor injuries that can result from accidents during recess. You must be a judge, meaning that as a teacher one must always be as fair and just as possible. You must be a referee, if you decide to use education games into to enhance lessons, you as the teacher or in this case the referee must be able to run the game. You must be an interpreter; a teacher should always be clear and precise in giving directions, rules, and procedures.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children and helping them be the best they can be. Through my teaching experiences I have discovered that each child learns different and I feel it is my job as a teacher to recognize the child’s strengths. Once I know the child’s leaning style and strengths, I will build off of that information and present the material in a way that will bring the child success. As a teacher my number one goal is to help each child succeed with the least amount of stress. My best quality is patience and I take pride in that. I feel just as happy as my students when they achieve the success that they strive for. My teaching style has always been driven by what my students need. I will explain a concept different ways to help each child understand to the best of their ability. I became a teacher to help pass on the knowledge children need. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe it is important to understand that every child is a different, and a different approach is necessary for them to each achieve their highest potential. I believe that every student can be taught to strive for their best, no matter what the circumstance. It is important to get to know each of your students and embrace their differences, and furthermore, to treat them with respect and kindness. All it takes is that one teacher to motivate a child to succeed, and if I could have that impact on one child, then it would be worth it.

I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.

I always remember having a passion for education, for example my favorite game as a child was school where I got to be the teacher. Thus, I thought I had found my niche once I became a certified schoolteacher and secured my first teaching assignment. I was enamored with my students and the learning process. However, my enthusiasm quickly dissipated when the reality of “schooling” was revealed. I no longer felt joy, but heartache at the systemic annihilation of inner-city children. However, one thing inspired me to keep coming to teach, day after day, despite the school’s limited supplies, lack of safety, and irreverence for aesthetics; it was the will and determination of my students. They came to school day after day, excited to just learn and receive reassurance that education is liberating and knowledge is power. It was with these students in mind, along with my own children an ... read more

I believe that every student can successfully learn different subjects if the material is presented to them in a way they can understand. Students vary in how they learn; some learn from reading and others from visuals. I will help to identify which style works best for the student and then tutor them using that style. Another strength of mine is my ability to take complex material and teach it in a way that makes the material easy to understand by simplifying the concepts. I thrive on seeing my students succeed.
I have always been interested in tutoring and helping students learn. In high school I tutored elementary students and high school students who were struggling with a variety of subjects. I was an advanced academic student throughout high school. In college I spent time tutoring other college students in my classes to help them understand the new material. I curren ... read more

While studying at Bradley University, I worked with the CHOICES program tutoring local disadvantaged High School students in core curriculum: History, English, Math, Science, etc. As a French tutor, I volunteered to help my fellow classmates learn the French language. After obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Spanish from Bradley University in May of 2006, I continued to provide educational instruction as an AmeriCorps KEYS volunteer. As a team of AmeriCorps members, we developed a grant-winning curriculum that benefited underprivileged youth, provided one-on-one instruction to struggling elementary students in Math and Reading, counseled at-risk youth, and taught lessons at a day camp for disadvantaged children. In addition to my service in AmeriCorps, my primary project as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine was to teach English at a secondary school 18 hours per wee ... read more

I graduated with a degree in Physical Science Education, which gives me a strong background in Physical Sciences and in math. I have worked with children and youth of all age levels and nearly every ability. I ran an afterschool program for the Salvation Army, ran a boys home for troubled boys and worked in St. Paul City schools as a substitute teacher and a night teacher at an evening school. I also have worked six summers at a Salvation Army camp. Through these experiences I have worked with both gifted and special needs children and youth.
I believe that all children have the capability to learn if someone is willing to be patient and work with them. I enjoy having fun with youth while learning and teaching those I work with the value of what they are learning. A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent graduate from Westminster College, I have earned a BA in History and my PA teaching certificate for 7-12 in Social Studies. I have had experience in teaching grades 9-12 and tutoring students in grade 10 in subjects other than social studies such as science, math, and spanish. I have also volunteered to teach in my church's relgious education program to 5th grade students and plan on teaching 4th grade next year.
I believe that all children learn differently and at different levels and as a teacher, you need to recongize that and adapt your lessons to your students so they can achieve. For social studies, most student think that class is all about taking notes and reading from the book but I put a twist on all of my lessons. I do a lot of group projects, I have the students do presentations for each other on the material and also reanacts of big events to help the s ... read more

I have always loved learning for its own sake, mostly because of my passion for reading as a child. Though 120 credits are required to graduate with a B.S. in Physics, I graduated with 238 credits, which I filled up with Science, Philosophy, Social Science and English courses from other fields. I have written many philosophical essays, laboratory reports, research papers, English papers, etc, and have tutored students in Mathematics, Astronomy, Physics, English, and other fields and sciences.
My goal is to simply to help. Everyone can learn, even in subjects they find difficult. I understand from first-hand experience why people can find the sciences difficult, especially Math and Physics, because I myself have had great difficulty with them in the past. So I know how hard it is, and I know that its possible to succeed despite this. I think the key is for someone to find a method o ... read more
